Burrito Leads to ER Visit - El Azteca, Ames Iowa

Drove on Thurs Dec 12, to take my son to lunch who was studying for finals. I ordered a burrito for lunch. It was very large so I cut it in half and sent the other half home with my son for a snack later. He ate it that evening. Friday afternoon at 5:00pm he called very weak from throwing up since about noon on the Friday the 13th. We drove up and brought him home to Clive where he complained of severe stomach pain and continued to vomit and have diarrhea. It was so severe that we took him to the ER around 9:00pm. ER was so crowded that he wasn't seen until around 11:00pm. In the meantime, I wasn't feeling well so I went home and began getting sick myself. Very violent. My son ran a fever of 101. They gave him fluids and morphine and released him about 3:00am. I continued to be sick until Sunday (I had just finished treatment for Breast Cancer so I am not in prime shape - Im 54 years old) they would not test for E Coli bc they said the treatment was the same for flu or e coli, so I guess we wont ever know for sure. However given the intensity and timing, I suspect food poisoning to be the culprit here. The burrito did have lettuce on it. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting, Weakness, Stomach Pain, Fever
