Lucky Charms Illness Outbreak - Hannaford, Westbrook Maine

3 years ago reported by user-gmhjw587 business

Hannaford Supermarket, Hannaford Drive, Westbrook, ME, USA

7 Hannaford Drive, Westbrook, 04092 Maine, United States

It’s not the flu, it’s not Covid, the only thing we all ate in common was Lucky Charms. And my cat drank the milk.  My cat has never had diarrhea in his life. He is 16. He got suddenly so sick. There had been a dog visiting so I thought maybe it was that. Told the vet and he said perhaps it was stress colitis. My cat had to be put under and groomed due to his diarrhea. I missed meetings and did an insane amount of laundry and made god awful decisions…like do I poop my pants or throw up in this hoodie, was VIOLENTLY ILL, couldn’t leave my room or bathroom or care for my daughter. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse, she started vomiting. It got up to ten times and I stopped counting. It was everywhere. More laundry. Then the diarrhea. Uncontrollable. I would remake the bed, she would get out of the shower only to lose control again. Diarrhea everywhere. She’s 9. She ended up with a fever of 103.5, completely delirious. We went to the ER at 3:30 am yesterday. I was going to call an ambulance because I didn’t know if I could carry her if I needed to. And she was worried she would p**p herself. We put Depends on her. Got tested for Covid and the flu, told them our symptoms. Test results negative. Looking back the only thing in common was Lucky Charms. My cat loves to drink the milk. My daughter and I love to eat the cereal. But I NEVER WANT TO FEEL LIKE THIS AGAIN. It has been the worst experience of my life. I had the vomiting and diarrhea at the same time, and my daughters was one and then the other, she still is having the diarrhea. I almost had a nervous breakdown yesterday. Because of the magnitude of the shituation and the lack of sleep and the water bill I’m going to get. It’s all too much. I’m grateful for friends and the ability to accept help but my god. This is insanity. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.  It happened A few times…and my cat got sick too. 4/10/22 for me, 4/4/22 for my cat, and 4/22/22 for me again and 4/24-25/22 for my daughter, | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Fever, Vomiting, Nausea
