Buffet Illness Hits Hard - Hotel, Punta Cana La Altagracia

Recently went on vacation to Hard Rock in Punta Cana. Was supposed to be there for my birthday and we stayed 10/29/2025-11/1/2025. It was a group of 4 of us: myself, my mother, aunt and uncle. Not long after our first meal there at the multicultural buffet, my aunt got extremely sick with irregular bowel movements, nausea, and cramping. By the evening she had to go to the hotel infirmary to receive anti nausea shots and medication. On the second night (10/30) I began to feel a little queasy but ignored it because it felt mild. That day we ate at La Isla (I believe that was the name) and Toro. But then on my birthday (10/31) I woke up at 2am violently ill with diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, chills and dizziness. I was too afraid of passing out to get up and go to the infirmary so I had a very uncomfortable couple of hours after that of nonstop vomiting and diarrhea and barely any sleep. By 9am the doctor at the infirmary sent me to the local emergency room to get anti nausea shots, IV fluids and medicine. I was told I contracted a bacterial infection and needed to stay overnight to be stabilized. The next day (11/1) I was discharged and sent home with medication to treat my infection further. I went from leaving the hospital to flying back home to the states 100% frustrated and dissatisfied with my experience. Now that we are home my other family members are also experiencing symptoms of illness. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Stomach Pain, Fever, Chills, Dizziness

Same happened to my daughter in January 2024 at jewel palm beach in Punta Cana. The pediatrician said Domenican has different bacteria and parasites which can cause illness. Long story short I still have PTSD after this experience and never going back to Punta Cana. Sorry about your experience.
