Hilton Drinks Suspected Illness - Hilton, Santa Maria Sal

2 years ago reported by user-nnkxv531 business

Hilton Cabo Verde Sal Resort, Avenida dos Hoteis, Santa Maria, Cape Verde

Avenida dos Hoteis, Santa Maria, 4111 Sal, Cabo Verde

My partner and I are currently in a suite in the Hilton in Sal, Cape Verde, both of us have suspected food poisoning, horrible stomach cramps and sickness/diarrhoea. Our guess is the ice cubes in the drinks, we haven't eaten/drank outside the hotel. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Vomiting, Cramps

I had the same symptoms same resort but different hotel back in April. I think the ice cubes are safe but I did have quite a few drinks with ice the night before I was I'll. Do make sure you see a doctor and get a report as I couldn't make a claim against tour operator as they insisted on an official medical report.

Suggest get tested for shigella which is a notifiable illness. It is rife on the island and can make you very ill indeed. Its a result of poor hygiene caused by infected faeces in the food chain. It can cause long term issues so it's not just a holiday bug and so not to be taken lightly. Hope you are feeling better soon.
