Nuggets: C. diff & Salmonella - McDonald's, Toronto Ontario

4 years ago reported by user-ggkpy161 business

McDonald's, 4435 Kingston Road, Scarborough, ON, Canada

October 22nd, Nuggets from here My mom and I got sick, I felt symptoms after 24 hours but my mom had symptoms almost immediately.

My mom and I had a nail appointment around the area, so we decided to share a 20 piece chicken nugget combo from here for lunch. My mom mostly ate the fries, and only had about 3 nuggets and I had the remainder. When we got home my mom ran to the bathroom and was in there for a while… that whole evening she complained that the chicken nuggets from here had given her diarrhea. I didn’t think too much of it because I wasn’t feeling sick. The next day my stomach felt like it was in knots, I didn’t eat much that day but made sure to drink lots of water. The day after I was severely ill. My symptoms were so bad that I had no other option but to go to the hospital. They initially thought it was my appendix because of the severe abdominal pain. They did a whole bunch of tests, took blood work and stool cultures. The CT scan showed twisting of my intestines and an intussusception. I was later admitted to the hospital, and was told that my stool culture came back with a C. diff bacterial infection in my intestines. I was put on antibiotics, and was given medication at the hospital. After being discharged and still having to deal with the lingering nausea and abdominal pain, I received a call from Toronto Public Health informing me that they were told about salmonella in my stool culture, my gastrointestinal doctor later called to confirm. The type of salmonella I contracted is Livingstones.

I know that their food got me sick, but I don’t know if I’ll ever find out how they got me sick… whether it was improper food handling or a hygiene situation, in all honesty, it makes me never want to eat from a fast food restaurant ever again; especially not their food. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting, Stomach Pain
