Suspected food poisoning. Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting, Stomach Pain, CrampsSuspected source: Rotten linguica on pizza from restaurant.
Onset: Right away
Duration: 12 to 24 hours
Additional information: We’ve ordered the same 2 pizzas from Smoking Monkey for nearly 11 years so we know how they should taste and smell. On 6/19/25 my husband got halfway through 1 slice of his pizza and said something wasn’t right with the linguica. They tasted and smelled rotten. The linguica is always a red color, much like pepperoni, but this time they were brown on their cooked sides, grey on their undersides, and accompanied with a stench so bad it nearly made me sick. My husband picked the remaining linguica off and tried to finish the slice, but the rotten linguica grease was all over the pizza, rendering it inedible. About 20 minutes later he said he felt really weird and started vomiting. He was sick all night long with diarrhea, and vomiting, and was too nauseated to eat until today. Luckily I didn’t eat any of his pizza, but my pizza was so underbaked and raw in the center that I could only stomach eating 2 slices. While the underbaked pizza upset my stomach, at least I wasn’t vomiting like my husband was from the rotten linguica on his pizza. My husband and I have experienced food poisoning before from establishments but this is our first time ever reporting a business. In 14 years of being together I’ve never seen him vomit this much and so soon after exposure from food poisoning before. It was bad and he couldn’t eat until today. We brought the pizza back to Smoking Monkey the next day (6/20) so we could talk to the owner and show him the rotten linguica. Once we arrived the owner (knowing we were coming in to speak with him) refused to speak with us or even meet us despite our offer to patiently wait there (until closing if we had to) for a time that was convenient for him. #smokingmonkey #smokingmonkeypizza #rentonpizza #downtownrenton #rentoneats #rentondining #smokingmonkeyrenton #rentonfood | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting, Stomach Pain, Cramps
