In-Flight Sandwich Sickness - Starbucks, Honolulu Hawaii

I was transiting from Hawaii to Guam when I decided I would stop for a quick trip at Starbucks. I frequently try Starbucks’ food options and today I picked the Turkey and Cheddar sandwich. Mind you I was about to board an 8 hour flight. I had Starbucks for breakfast as well but only my usual green tea latte. I had my sandwich and boarded my flight. Much to my surprise, after I woke up from a two and a half hour nap, my body was freezing. I knew something was wrong because everyone on the plane was seated comfortably with no blankets. I am also a nurse and was observing my symptoms very closely. I waited it out but the headache and diarrhea came just as soon as I fully awakened. I went to the lavatory maybe five times before I finally asked a flight attendant for non-aspirin medication. I took my seat and waited for the meds to do its thing. Unfortunately, I became so nauseous I couldn’t stand any light or movement. After hiding under my blanket I finally gave up and made my way toward the lavatory only to expel the contents of my stomach which looked exactly like my sandwich. I’m writing this as I gulp down tons of water and try to keep from making another trip to the lavatory. I’ve taken this flight twice a year for the past four years and this is by far the worst trip of my life. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Fever, Nausea, Vomiting, Headache
