Bloody Diarrhea After Refresher - Starbucks, Bakersfield California

I went there with my dad on Sunday, July 19, 2020. We all got Trenta Refreshers- my parents had dragon fruit and I had the strawberry açaí. Later that night, after drinking the refreshers, my parents felt sick. They had abdominal and bowel cramps, however they recovered after a few hours. However, the next morning, I ended up waking up to explosive diarrhea after an hour of suffering and sweating and laying on the floor trying to think of anything but how badly my bowels were cramping and the doom that was about to come. Now, I have IBS, so this situation isn’t foreign to me, however this was different. After having an initial horrific bowel movement I can only describe as hot lava flowing out of me while I am grabbing onto the counter for dear life, it wouldn’t stop. I continued to have diarrhea for the next 6 hours every 10-20 minutes. It wouldn’t stop. I was cramping like crazy and actually crying because I thought I was going to die. It did stop at one point, and I was able to eat some plain rice to help firm up my stool. I didn’t sleep much that night, but I woke up to more diarrhea, but this time with blood in it. I finally called my doctor and was prescribed an antibiotic and told that I most likely had infectious diarrhea and was infected by the fruit in the drink (maybe not kept well?). It would explain why my parents didn’t have it as badly as I did, because we had two different drinks. Basically, I continued to have bloody diarrhea until the afternoon, but then continued on to be extremely nauseous to the point that I had to have a garbage bag nearby just in case I puked. It’s the 4th day now, and I am slowly getting better (well, no diarrhea at least) though I am still weak, crampy, nauseous, and dehydrated. I wanted to report it the second I was able to even pick up my phone without almost puking or having to run to the bathroom. I know some might say I just got sick, but it happened to my parents as well AND soon after drinking said drinks. I have all the symptoms of infectious diarrhea from bacteria (possibly E. Coli) and I am hoping that, by reporting this, it will save others from the same fate that I had. It was a genuinely awful, terrible, horrible, and downright painful experience that no one should have to go through. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea, Other, Cramps, Dehydration, Sweating, Bloody Stool, Weakness
