See More ordered potatoes, eggs and bacon, I was the only one who had bacon, my daughter in law ordered orange juice and as she was drinking the juice she notice ants and she showed us there were ants in the juice we let know to the waitress and she brought another juice, we finished eating and we went to the tour mine, we stayed like over and hour and then we went to take a look at some shops about 3 hours later I had a cramp in my stomach and nausea a feel I was going to throw up, I kept walking but then it hurt so bad my stomach I had to look for a bathroom, it was horrible, I told my son I don't feel good, the cramps were painful, so I we shorten our trip, this happened November 16 the next day still feels not good, this was a horrible, I needed to let you know if there other people getting sick from this place, the health department needs to go and check, because of the ants and me getting sick. Shigellosis Outbreak likely linked to a Conference in Hotel Venue ine in Downtown Los Angeles

A Shigellosis outbreak is being investigated by Alameda County Public Health Department in collaboration with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), which may be associated with a conference held at a hotel venue in downtown Los Angeles. The event, from August 21-24, 2023, saw over 300... See More attendees and has since resulted in 6 confirmed cases.
The four-day union delegate conference resulted in 6 reported cases of shigellosis as of August 31, 2023, originating from 4 different local health jurisdictions in California. At least 3 of these cases were confirmed to be Shigella by PCR, with additional subtyping pending. It's been reported that all of the infected individuals attended the event and the known illness onset date has been identified as August 25th of these cases, at least 2 have required hospitalization. As of September 1, 2023, Alameda County is reporting 3 shigellosis cases to CDPH, all of whom attended this event.
Public health officials continue to manage and investigate the outbreak, informing and liaising with event attendees and local health authorities to manage the situation.

The FSIS announced the recall of approximately 58,281 pounds of ground beef products by American Foods Group, LLC, doing business as Green Bay Dressed Beef, LCC that may be contaminated with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) O103. These products were shipped to distributors in Georgia, Michigan and... See More Ohio. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
The recalled products are:
- Approximately 80-lb. cases containing 10-lb. plastic tubes (chubs) of "90050 BEEF FINE GROUND 81/19" with lot code D123226026.
- Approximately 80-lb. cases containing 10-lb. plastic tubes (chubs) of "20473 BEEF HALAL FINE GROUND 73/27" with lot code D123226027.
- Approximately 80-lb. cases containing 10-lb. plastic tubes (chubs) of "20105 BEEF FINE GROUND 73/27" with lot code D123226027.
The raw, ground beef items were produced on Aug. 14, 2023 and bear the establishment number "EST. 18076" inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The problem was discovered when FSIS was notified that a sample collected by a state public health partner tested positive for the presence of E. coli O103.
Clinical labs often don't test for non-O157 STEC like O103 due to its challenging identification. Symptoms of infection can appear 2-8 days after exposure, typically causing diarrhea, vomiting, and sometimes severe illness. Diagnosis involves stool sample testing, with treatment mainly focusing on rehydration and support; antibiotics are usually not recommended. While most recover within a week, a few may experience severe complications like Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS), more common in young children, older adults, and those with weakened immunity, characterized by bruising, pallor, and reduced urine output, requiring immediate medical attention for those with such symptoms.
Distributors and other customers who have purchased these products for further processing should not use them or further distribute them.
