Lettuce and salad leaves produced in the UK likely linked to E.coli STEC outbreak in the UK

2 years ago source dailymail.co.uk

Outbreak

United Kingdom

The FSA, along with its counterpart in Scotland and the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) started to investigate an E.coli STEC outbreak likely linked to lettuce and salad leaves produced in the UK. There have been no deaths or reported cases of HUS linked to the latest outbreak. To date, there have been a total of 259 confirmed cases identified in the UK with sample dates ranging between August 23 — October 29, 2022.

Investigations suggest UK-produced lettuce and salad leaves could have been implicated but it is too early to be certain that they were the source of illness. The investigation is ongoing.

In case you are experiencing E. coli symptoms such as watery diarrhea (often bloody), vomiting; stomach cramps; and mild fever, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
