4 months ago source katrineholm.se

Katrineholm, Södermanland County, Sweden

Update September 17th, 2025:
Katrineholm Municipality has confirmed that the source of the Salmonella outbreak has been traced to eggs. The total number of confirmed cases remains at 50 as of this update.

Authorities continue testing symptomatic individuals and have extended testing to staff and residents without symptoms. The municipality is also reviewing internal procedures and collaborating with its contracted wholesaler to prevent future issues.

Officials have reminded residents to follow proper heating instructions for distributed food boxes, ensuring food reaches at least 70°C before consumption to eliminate potential infection risk. Inspections of Igelkotten’s restaurant found no reason for closure, and it remains open.
