The Seattle & King County Public Health announced they are investigating an outbreak of Salmonella linked to the Washington Care Center located at 2821 S Walden St, Seattle, WA. To date, 29 people connected to this place developed one or more symptoms consistent with salmonellosis, with Meal dates: June 29 and June 30, 2023. 6 people were hospitalized and no deaths were reported. Illness onset dates ranged from July 1, 2023, to July 5, 2023. No ill food workers were identified. Based on the investigation, this outbreak was likely due to contaminated food served at the facility, and it appears to be over. The outbreak came to light after the Washington Care Center reported the incident to Public Health on July 3, 2023. Working with the Washington State Department of Health and the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, extensive investigations were carried out in the facility. As a precautionary measure to prevent further spread, communal activities and dining were halted from July 3 to July 7.
