Gastrointestinal illness outbreak associated with Stack 571 Burger and Whiskey Bar

1 year ago source kingcounty.gov business

12540 120th Avenue Northeast, Kirkland, 98034 Washington, United States

Stack 571 Burger and Whiskey Bar has been linked to a gastrointestinal illness outbreak, likely caused by a bacterial toxin. Three patrons fell ill after dining at the establishment between October 28 and November 3, 2024.

The outbreak was investigated by Public Health, who discovered that all 3 individuals exhibited symptoms consistent with bacterial toxin exposure. Some staff members had recently been unwell, but no evidence suggested they were the source of the customers' sickness.

The issue came to light on November 7, 2024, when the health department was alerted to the illnesses. The common factor among the affected individuals was their recent dining experience at Stack 571 Burger and Whiskey Bar. Upon inspection of the establishment on November 8, 2024, investigators found certain unsafe food practices, such as an improperly stocked handwashing facility, and issues with the restaurant's worker health policy.

If you or a loved one are harmed or experiencing any symptoms, it is important to report it. Reporting can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
