Harvest Buffet, a popular restaurant in Tacoma, has been temporarily closed due to a suspected norovirus outbreak. The incident has reportedly affected multiple people from different households who dined at the establishment on October 6, 2024. The suspected outbreak came to light when several individuals, belonging to the same group but from different households, reported symptoms consistent with norovirus on October 9. The group had dined at Harvest Buffet on October 6, and the meal was identified as their only common source of food.
In response, the health department closed the restaurant around 10 a.m. on October 10, with plans to keep it closed for at least 24 hours. During this time, staff are working diligently to clean and sanitize the restaurant, and all ready-to-eat foods such as vegetables, bread, and cheese are being discarded. The restaurant will be allowed to reopen only after passing a preopening inspection to ensure the public is no longer at risk.
Considering that hand sanitizer does not work against this virus, it is important to wash your hands with soap frequently. Use bleach to clean and disinfect surfaces.
