Lamb Liver: Off Smell, Sick

Bought raw lamb meat and liver kept the products in the fridge and cooked them in 2 hours after the purchase. While dressing the meat before cooking the smell was bad then while grilling it the color was grey which did not look normal. 6 hours later the symptoms started.
