On 4/25/2023 at 3:44pm I purchased wings & things, cheddar bites and a coke. This was the only food I ate this day and I was feeling perfectly fine before this. 3 to 4hrs after eating this food I started getting dizzy with fever... See More symptoms followed by violent vomiting and diarrhea for 2 days straight. I lost 8lbs. I missed out on 20hrs of work because of this and had to use up 2 vacation days. I spoke with the district manager about the poisoning. She gave me a refund of $20.01 for my food poisoned meal and told me they would not take responsibility and that's all they would offer me. I then asked for them to check the cameras of them making my food to see if they did something to my food and she told me they wouldn't show me this but supposively check the video. I feel screwed over. I am now in the process of contacting the health department.

Additional information: Ordered a large cheesesteak with tomato, lettuce and mayo with fries. Ate half of it... See More thinking I was going to go straight home and put it in the fridge. It was delicious! Got sidetracked with a friend and explored the mall. The food sat for about two hours.
Knowing the risk I still decided to take it for lunch the next day. I scrapped the lettuce and tomato off, and put the meat over the fries. The day went fine; until early this morning around 12am I had horrible stomach pains, sweats and chills which I tend to get when extremely nauseated. I heaved twice but my gag reflex was too strong...so the food just went the other way. TMI but it gave off a weird smell and it was bubbly--which I know that bacteria tends to give off gas and make things bubble or froth. I took a foolish risk.

Fortunately, your illness is very, very unlikely to have been caused by the Subway sandwiches. Based on your symptoms and rapid onset of illness after eating, it is more probable that you were suffering from influenza or COVID. No food poisoning causes respiratory symptoms, and very, very rarely have such a short incubation period. The onset of illness after eating was just poor timing, but coincidental nonetheless. Hope you are feeling better today.

Hi, thanks so much for your comment. TIP: How, when, and if you become ill after eating contaminated food will depend on the ‘bug’, but also the amount of exposure, your age, and your health. Food poisoning can be especially dangerous, and even life-threatening, for people with weakened immune systems. Also, if the contamination is chemical or physical, symptoms can start within minutes. If it is biological contamination, it can start as fast as 30 minutes (e.g. Staph). Other types of contamination can take longer, it all depends on what it was, but it can be fast. Finally, food poisoning from Subway does happen and the chain has been involved in several recent outbreaks. In 2017, 18 people had symptoms linked to Norovirus from a Normandy Park, WA location. Salmonella is a commonly reported diagnosis and diarrhea & nausea are the most reported symptoms from Subway. Hope this is helpful. Have a good afternoon and thank you for your time.

I think the first bout was from a Gram-positive organism in the sandwich. The sickness later in the week sounds like a respiratory illness that the victim was more susceptible to due to decreased immunity from the food poisoning.
