On Oct. 28th, 2022 my husband and I decided to order takeout from this restaurant whose food we enjoyed about 2 1/2 years ago. Order a small mix of items since I like to taste a variety, he only wanted the chicken Tikka Masala. I started tasting... See More their Spinach Saag (I've eaten Indian food at top NYC restaurants, and one bit of whatever this burnt mess was, it WAS NOT Spinach Saag Paneer. I moved on to a bite of their Chicken Korma, that tasted awful & told my husband the restaurant might have the same name but it was NOT the place we'd ordered from 2-plus years prior. Then I got SICK to say the least, and have spent 98% of my life in the bathroom. This has been around the clock, and I still feel nauseous. I decided to go on-line for reviews and most of them were exactly like mine; interestingly people said "this place totally changed when they changed management 2 years ago". Well that explains a lot. Meanwhile, my husband called & told them how sick I got after eating some of their food. I guess he spoke with the owner who promised to refund his credit card. Husband checked today and card was charged, Discover card said there was no sign of a pending refund. Husband called the restaurant to remind of the day & time he ordered and amount spent. Man yelled "I'LL CALL YOU BACK" and slammed the phone in his ear, and no, he didn't call back. I should have known that was a red flag to freezers going down and food geating tossed put like ice cream. Environmental Health investigators visited the restaurant on January 24, 2023. They observed improper food handling practices, including blocked access to handwashing facilities, improper storage of wiping cloths, risk of cross-contamination, and lack of maintenance, cleaning, and sanitizing of food equipment and physical facilities. Investigators closed the restaurant during their visit on January 24, 2023. The restaurant was required to complete a thorough cleaning and disinfection.
