Cakes could be the source of food poisoning. In 2021, cake mix was the source of an E.coli outbreak that affected 12 states in the US and lead to 7 hospitalizations. E.coli infections are characterized by moderate to severe diarrhea to occurs 2-10 days after consumption.

simple mills brand healthy GF muffins/cupcake mix.... nausea second day, need to vomit but can’t.. worst nausea ever. migraine, cranial pressure.. headache... ears feel hot, dissented stomach serious upset.
