Frozen seafood products sold at Asda, Sainsbury's, and more - recalled due to possible salmonella contamination

The FSA announced the recall of several chilled and frozen seafood products by several retailers (Asda, Sainsbury's, Co-op, Waitrose & Partners) because they might be contaminated with salmonella.

FSA advises consumers not to eat the recalled products. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

- Asda Seafood Selection (Mussels, seafood bites and king prawns) (Chilled) (240g). Best before: 22, 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28 January 2021.
- Asda Cooked Mussels (Chilled) (150g). Best before: 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28 January 2021.
- by Sainsbury’s Seafood Selection (Chilled) (200g). Best before: All Date codes.
- by Sainsbury’s Cooked Cockles (Frozen) (200g). Best before: All Date codes.
- by Sainsbury’s Cooked Mussels (Frozen) (300g). Best before: All Date codes.
- by Sainsbury’s Seafood Selection (Frozen) (300g). Best before: All Date codes.
- Waitrose & Partners Essential Frozen Seafood Selection, (King prawns, mussels and squid rings) (Frozen) (250g). Best before: All dates up to and including end January 2022.
- Co-op Cooked Seafood Selection (Frozen) (300g). Best before: All date codes.
- Waitrose & Partners Essential Cooked Seafood Selection, (Mussels, king prawns and squid) (Chilled) (200g). Best before: All use by dates from 20 December 2020 to 20 January 2021.


The products listed above might be contaminated with salmonella. Symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps.

“The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert because raw beef product produced by Greater Omaha Packing Co. Inc., an Omaha, Neb. establishment, may be contaminated with E. coli. O157:H7. A recall was not requested because the affecte... See Mored product is no longer available for purchase.

FSIS is concerned that some ground beef products may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products should not consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
The raw beef item was produced by Greater Omaha Packing Co. Inc. on January 14, 2021, further processed into ground beef and sold by Art’s Food Market located in Sandwich, Illinois. The following product is subject to the public health alert:

- 2-lb (approximately) trays containing raw ground beef labeled with a retail label with “PACKED” dates ranging from JAN 28 2021 through JAN 31 2021.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

E. coli O157:H7 is a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause dehydration, bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps 2–8 days (3–4 days, on average) after exposure the organism. FSIS advises all consumers to safely prepare their raw meat products, including fresh and frozen, and only consume raw ground beef product that has been cooked to a temperature of 160°F.

“Sushi and lemongrass chicken soup. I ordered 2 sushi rolls (salmon and white fish) and the chicken soup with lemongrass. “Last night around 9:45pm I ate a Large Double Big Mac meal with extra sauce and 2 Hash Browns, a few hours later i was Vomiting and had Severe Diarrhea, then this morning i had Diarrhea again but this time I also had rectal bleeding too that has been happening since about 2am.
