FDA has issued an alert regarding certain mussels from Newfoundland, Canada, due to potential contamination. The FDA's warning pertains to mussels harvested on February 7, 2024 (Julian date 24038), from harvest area AQ # 15 Newfoundland, with a final harvest date of February 18, 2024 (Julian date 24049). The mussels were shipped to distributors on or around February 21, 2024 (Julian Date 24052).
Restaurants and retailers should not serve or sell the potentially contaminated mussels. Restaurants and retailers should dispose of any products by throwing them in the garbage or contacting their distributors to arrange for return and destruction. Consumers should not eat the potentially contaminated mussels. Consumers who have symptoms should contact their health care provider to report their symptoms and receive care.
