Oysters are one of the highest risk food poisoning items you can eat. Oysters are filter feeders and are usually eaten raw, so any environmental issues get passed directly on to diners. Oyster food poisoning is typically associated with vibrio and reports have been received from all coasts.

Bad seafood and oysters We had oysters, shrimp and crab legs. The oysters were pink and dry. Didn't eat those, they were served with ice on top, not over ice. Had the guy bring another batch, against his judgement. The other guests were also complaining. Something seemed... See More off with all the food, but we thought we were being paranoid. There were 4 of us, 3 are sick. 4th person only had drinks. Stomach cramps, nausea then vomiting and diarrhea. We feel horrible. Last Wednesday, me and a colleague went to the Bar restaurant.
    The staff is amazing.
We asked for some oysters, Tartar and, finally, rosbife. 2 bottles of wine, everything looked to be a great night - it should, actually, for a 225€ dinner for 2 :)
But... See More then disgrace come upon our lives.
At 4 a.m. we started to have the first symptoms of a food poison.
    Still lasting today, Sunday.
    What a horrible experience.
What a shameful and Irresponsible behavior from this restaurant pretending to be top of the “L’art de vivre”.
All I experimented was a medium class kitchen (when you go out to have a gastronomical experience you ask for something you cannot do yourself at home - I can do better), with a top bar staff and a trendy, very nice place to see and be seen.
The food poison is not the first, as I checked.
But I can promise you that will be my last time in that space!! | Symptoms: Gas

The FDA is advising consumers not to eat, and restaurants and food retailers not to sell, and to dispose of oysters harvested between January 16, 2023, and February 17, 2023, from Deep Bay, Baynes Sound subarea 14-8 or subarea 13-16 (landfile #140185) in British Columbia, Canada due... See More to possible norovirus contamination. The FDA is working with federal, state, and local officials, and with Canadian public health authorities on a norovirus outbreak linked to raw oysters from British Columbia, Canada. Currently, illnesses have only been reported in Canada with no known cases of norovirus associated with these oysters reported in the U.S.

    The affected products are oysters harvested between January 16, 2023, and February 17, 2023, from Deep Bay, Baynes Sound subarea 14-8 landfiles #0278744, #0278742, #0278741, #0278740, #1414396, #0319716, #1414456, #1414457, #1400483, #1411206, #1407063, #1408485, #0278739, #0278737, #1403139, #0278734, #1411153 and #1411195 and subarea 13-16 landfile #1401845 in British Columbia, Canada. Packaged oysters include the harvest area information on their packaging.

The FDA is alerting restaurants, retailers and consumers because it is possible that states received these oysters through distribution to the U.S.

Shellfish can cause illness if eaten raw, particularly in people with compromised immune systems. Food contaminated with norovirus may look, smell, and taste normal.

Norovirus is very contagious and is easily transmitted from person to person most through the oral/fecal route. Considering that hand sanitizer does NOT work against this virus, it is important to wash your hands with soap frequently. Use bleach to clean and disinfect surfaces.

In case you experience vomiting, diarrhea, and nausea, report it now. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
