Bagels, Pizza, Cramping Woes - Audrey's Outreach Programs, Brook Park Ohio

1 year ago reported by user-hxqm1844 business

Audrey's Outreach Programs, Holland Road, Brook Park, OH, USA

16845 Holland Road, Brook Park, 44142 Ohio, United States

I went to Audrey’s outreach food bank and was given a bunch of food. Everyone was very friendly. However, I ate mini bagels they had given me. About 3 hours later I had extreme stomach cramping and pain. After the pain got increasingly worse, I was stuck on the toilet for 4 hours with diarrhea, which also was bloody. Not sure if the blood was from irritation or whatever I picked up from the food. My cousin ate a frozen pizza from there and had a similar experience so I’m not sure if it’s because they are giving away expired food or if they are just not storing the food properly. It’s 3 days later, and I am still having stomach cramps with bouts of diarrhea. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Cramps, Stomach Pain

That sounds really unpleasant, and bloody diarrhea is a hallmark of infection with Shigella bacteria, known as Shigellosis. It's unlikely you contracted this from the bagels, since the incubation period for shigella is 12-96 hours. Did you and your cousin recently eat somewhere together? This bacterium can be found in poultry, raw milk, and leafy greens such as lettuces and cabbages found in salads. You can read more about shigella and shigellosis here: https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/shigellosis/shigella.html
