Avocado-Induced GI Distress - Avocado, Dallas Texas

3 years ago reported by user-kqptr346 business

Avocado, Tom Thumb, East Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, TX, USA

6333 East Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, 75214 Texas, United States

I purchased an avocado that was of the very large variety - 6” long by 2 1/2” wide at widest point. The avocado was completely hard when I bought it. They all were. I let it ripen on the counter for two days, then I put it in the fridge because it was ripening all at once. The next day, when I picked it up from inside the fridge, it felt like mush all over. I washed the outside of it with Dawn liquid soap. I cut into it expecting it to be rotten, but it didn’t appear to be. The flesh was firm, there were no black areas, no odor. I cut out half of it, and I ate it (with olives and feta). I took a couple of bites of just avocado after a few bites with the olives and feta, and then I noticed that it tasted a little off - not rotten, just “not right.” It was also a bit fibrous, and I had to remove some hard, long fibers from my mouth before swallowing. I had eaten maybe 1/4 of the avocado when I decided that it would be best to not eat anymore of it. About two hours later, my stomach started audibly churning, and I began passing gas. Within an hour of the onset of those symptoms, I had diarrhea. That was approximately 26 hours ago, and I am still having diarrhea and passing gas. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Gas
