Seafood Sickness at Market - Bolhão Market, Porto Porto

2 days ago reported by user-khjtk389 business

Bolhão Market, Rua Formosa, Porto, Portugal

322 Rua Formosa, Porto, 4000-248 Porto, Portugal

Me and my sister ate last Monday and Tuesday there ( first day salmon, tuna, oysters, octopus) and second day (tuna, oysters, percebes, urchin and fruits). After 5 hours I got very sick and I threw up for hours and hours. It's been a week and we both still have very bad nausea and cannot eat proper food. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Chills

The exact same thing happened to me in the SAME MARKET in February. I think their intentions are good but the conditions of storage are leading to food poisioning! There are many other reports of this market and these seafood stands. The local department of public health needs to do something I think. The good news is most healthy people will recover after 48 hours (the vomiting will stop in 12 hours but the diarrhea will stay for up to 72 hours). But young, the elderly or those with other conditions may face worse consequences. You must hydrate after each expulsion no matter what and ingest salts, electrolytes, crackers etc. Eat bananas to naturally bind things.

To everyone: recommend reporting it to the Portuguese Food Safety Authority! If the online platform doesn't work, email them
