Shared Meal Sickness Strikes - McDonald's, Loves Park Illinois

Our family attended the No Kings Day event in nearby Rockford Illinois, 3/28/2026. As we drove home we decided to stop at McDonald's in Loves Park, Illinois. We placed our order but when we drove to the window, they informed us the ice cream machine was down. We chose to pass and cancel the order and we would visited another location, nearby. We arrived at the McDonald's on 173 West Lane Rd, in Machesney Park. We placed our order which included an ice cream cone in a cup and a value meal. We got home just minutes later and consumed our food, while two of us shared the sandwich and fries. Approximately 2.5-3 hours later, the two of us who shared the meal started getting terrible stomach pain. An hour later, both of us began experiencing nausea and severe stomach pain, so we laid down in bed. Less than an hour after getting in bed the vomiting started and then later the diarrhea. This continues on and off for the next several hours. The following day was a Sunday and we felt weak with no appetite and lingering stomach aches. We drank clear fluids all day, and the two of us began feeling better in the evening of 3/29/2026. If only one person had experienced the sudden onset of becoming ill, we may have just thought it was a simple gastric upset. Being that it affected us both, it obviously concerned us. We are utterly disgusted by the thought of eating at a McDonald's restaurant ever again. I have had food sickness after eating Burger King around a year ago. We have not eaten with them since and I have no desire to return to either fast food chain now.
