Chicken Causes Severe Illness - Dave's Hot Chicken, Newington Connecticut

3 weeks ago reported by user-xkgj7435 business

Dave’s Hot Chicken, Berlin Turnpike, Newington, CT, USA

3384 Berlin Turnpike, Newington, 06111 Connecticut, United States

Me and my boyfriend went to Daves Hot Chicken on Monday, January 5th, 2026. He ate two tenders, fries, and a side of mac and cheese. I ate the 10 buffalo bites and a side of fries. We both had cherry cokes. We ate in the parking lot and we were fine for the rest of the day. It wasn’t until the next evening, Tuesday, January 6th, 2026 that we ate some dinner at our house, with his mother and sister. They were completely fine and did not become ill. Me and my boyfriend on the other hand fell severely ill at the same exact time. We were throwing up for 3 hours so badly that we couldn’t even stomach water. Becoming very dehydrated, we went to the nearest hospital to receive help. If his mother and sister cooked the dinner and ate just as much as we did but were fine, we traced it back to it being the chicken we had from Dave’s. There was nothing else that we had shared together since then and the homemade dinner his mom made. The fact that we were both very sick and it came on us at the exact same time, there’s no way it wasn’t. Even after we ate the chicken the day prior, we both kind of felt a little off but it was fine for the most part, raising just a little bit of worry, but not too worried about it. The doctors at the hospital said depending on the germ contracted from food, it could take hours or even days for symptoms to start. For us, it took a little over 24 hours. Long story short, neither of us are going back to any Dave’s Hot Chicken, and I don’t think I will be returning to any fast food after this experience. It was traumatizing to say the least. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Stomach Pain, Fever, Chills, Headache
