Both me (21) and my partner (21) had a 5 guys today with our toddler nephew (2) and partner mother (60). On the 31st of December 2025 (yesterday), we ordered 2 plain burgers with a double patty (for partner & mother) and a cheese burger with double patty ( for myself). It was noticibly overdone but still tasted flavourable. This was at around 3pm in the afternoon that we visited. Toddler had chips.Later when we got home, we were fine, just preparing for new year like one would do in the norm, I look over to see my partner looking miserable. I ask him whats up and he responddd "I feel sick, I can feel it in my throat and can't get rid of the feeling" (around 5-6pm). I first thought maybe he ate too fast, or that it might be due to all the rich foods he's digested over the festive break, but i'm almost certain he's sick because of the meat in the five guys burger as he mentions the taste being off (he's a 5 guys regular).
We both stayed up till the bells almost 2h ago and I now feel similar, but with nausea, sickness and headache. This may be horrible to mention but I can "taste" the burger acids in my mouth. Potential food poisoning began to be my next thought. (Partners mother continues to be fine.
Reason why i'm concerned mostly is that we could have gave our baby nephew one of these burgers. | Symptoms: Nausea, Vomiting, Headache
