Burgers Cause Resort Illness - All Inclusive, Punta Cana La Altagracia

Carretera El Macao - Arena Gorda, Punta Cana, 23000 La Altagracia, Dominican Republic
Feb 7th 2024 - At 9pm started violently throwing up for 6 hours, had diarrhea and major stomach cramps. Symptoms improved within 12 hours but cannot eat much. We think it was the burgers from the outside grill. The following night my 9 year old became extremely ill after eating a burger from the Steakhouse. He was throwing up for about 3 hours and has had major diarrhea and fever for 24 hours. Friends of ours who happened to be at the same resort, 6 of them so far also had the exact same symptoms, vomiting, diarrhea and some with fever. Hoping nobody else gets sick, it's awful and ruined our vacation. :( | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Fever, Cramps

I was here the same date and developed salmonella poisoning at this location . Same dates. I am just now recovering at home.
Did anyone report to public health while out there? They need to test water and meat!
We were 3 couples there from Feb 5 to 12 and 4 out of 6 had the same sickness. Almost everyone we spoke with while there had people in their group who had also been sick. We have been to Punta Cana (other resorts) at least 7 times and have never been sick. We are extremely careful. If you check out the Facebook pages for this hotel you will see lots if people writing about their sickness while there. I agree they need to test the meat, water/ice at the bars and how they clean the glasses in the rooms and pool bar. We observed (for several long periods of time) they way they cleaned the glasses at the bar - one pail of water with soap and same rag for hours and rinse in another pail - what water were they using? Why weren’t the glasses cleaned in a dish washer? Knowing what was going around they should have taken better precautions to avoid cross-contamination. This resort should be inspected. I am in the midst of preparing a report for the resort, our carrier and public health.

Hello, my sister got severely ill at the same resort at the same time. I am trying to work with the resort, but they are non-responsive. Who at the Health Department can I report this to? I am having a hard time finding someone to report this to. We are planning to sue them as well for pain and suffering as well as loss of work and multiple ER visits. They must be held accountable! Our trip was ruined!
I only ate at the steakhouse. The second day I was there. The hotel and Marriott are aware and we have been going back and forth because I missed a week of work after returning home and 2 ER visits. Please send info if you have it to contact proper health officials. We are looking to contact a lawyer in Punta Cana
We were also there at this time and a group of 4 adults. The 2 guys both got sick one with vomiting and both diarrhea. My husband stayed sick for 5 days. We notified our butler at the resort but nothing was done about it. Wish I would have thought about addressing this further while we were there.
Just got back on Friday and got sick on Wednesday night, I didn’t have burgers but could have been hot dog from truck or possibly nachos from pizza grille..but now my husband is sick and we are back home so it could have been some kind of stomach bug that spread because his came later. Could have also been drinks or glassware not properly washed. So far kids are ok.
Just got home 03/02 with temp of 103.3 still out of work five days later. Lungs got attacked bad. Couldn’t breath at all something is going on with this area. We stayed at Majestic.
