Food Safety Report - ShopRite, Lawrence Township New Jersey

4 years ago reported by user-fvgfz861 business

ShopRite of Lawrenceville, Brunswick Pike, Lawrenceville, NJ, USA

3373 Brunswick Pike, Lawrence Township, 08648 New Jersey, United States

My partner and I purchased boneless ribeye steak from there this evening (6/15). The sell by date on the packaging was 6/19. After cooking only the steak (no other food was cooked with/served with the steak), we both were experiencing digestive distress within 45 minutes of having consumed the meat. My partner drove back to the store location (we had purchased 2 packages), to return the second package and alert the store manager. The general manager on duty was immediately defensive, and even went so far as to claim that he had been assisting the store's butcher that very morning in breaking down the steaks. While there was a refund issued for our purchase, he remained curt and borderline hostile towards my partner throughout their entire interaction, offering nothing but the antithesis of customer service; ultimately, he simply said that "unless this is, in fact, a case of food poisoning, there is nothing further I could do," and said simply "you can call the health department in the morning". Not only were my partner and I both shocked by the complete and utter lack of empathy, professionalism, and claims that the store's manager had actually overseen the breaking down of that particular beef, but further, we are both currently experiencing nausea, diarrhea, and general digestive discomfort/distress (stomach cramps, pain). We will be reporting this to our local health department, and we hope that the store will reconsider their training practices of upper-level store management when dealing with a situation as serious as potential food poisoning. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting, Other, Cramps, Stomach Pain
