Turkey Leg Cart, Anaheim, CA, USA

5 years ago reported by user-kfkpg238

Turkey Leg Cart, Anaheim, CA, USA

1313 Disneyland Drive, Anaheim, 92802 California, United States

My husband, myself and our 20 year daughter shared 2 turkey legs and an ear of corn at approximately 10PM on Dec 21st. (Our 19 year son did not eat any of the turkey legs.) The next day we attended Univ Studios and at around 8:00 PM my husband developed severe diarrhea. By 3:00 AM both my daughter and I were also out of bed with severe diarrhea and my daughter was vomiting as well. We were to attend another day at Universal, and gave it a try after a phone call confirmed they would not refund any portion of our tickets. We walked in the gate and after a trip to the restroom we immediately went to the Medical Center, actually a security guard escorted us as now that our daughter was standing up she felt as if she was going to faint. (This is a college athlete, not a wimpy kid.) They took her temp. 100.5 and advised us to go to the hospital. It should be noted that while there we encountered 2 other people who had also been at Disneyland on the same date as we, eaten the turkey legs and were now vomiting at Universal 2 days later. Universal kindly gave us a voucher to come back within the next year. (We live near Reno, Nv so it is a bit of an expense/and takes time to go, but we appreciate their efforts.) We left Univ. and started our journey home however, we choose to stay in Lancaster so my daughter could rest and hopefully stop vomiting in the car. (We were still 6 hours from home.) By 8 PM and 17 vomit/diarrhea filled hours later she was ready for the ER. The Dr.s took a CT of her abdomen to rule out appendicitis and gave her medicines to control vomiting and counteract effects. This helped a great deal and we were able to leave the ER at 1:30AM. (Long day) I feel that she got the worst of it as she ate the most of the turkey legs. The only other thing we ate was clam chowder bowls (all 4 of us) and a variety of junk foods which we all shared. We did not eat anything other than Disneyland food from 8AM-11:00PM on the date in question. It should be noted that our 19 year old son did NOT eat the turkey leg and had perfect health, with no effects of food poisoning of any kind. I have NEVER written a review of this type but, I have also never had any situation such as this occur. I am 51 and not prone to complaining but, I want others to be aware that Disney food may not be safe for consumption, or at the very least was not safe on the 21st of Dec. By the way, we have eaten the turkey legs at Disney and several times over the years and never had a problem. I simply do not believe this is an isolated incident based on the other people we ran into at Univ. Studios medical center. All of this information should be able to be verified through Universal Studios as well. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Fever, Nausea, Vomiting, Stomach Pain
