OJ Causes Severe Cramps - Wegmans, Rochester New York

2 years ago reported by user-qtpb5641 business

Wegmans, East Avenue, Rochester, NY, USA

1750 East Avenue, Rochester, 14610 New York, United States

Suspected food poisoning from fresh OJ. Strong, very painful abdominal cramps, lightheadedness. No med seems to help at all :( Nothing else I ate/drank within the past 24 hours could have caused it as I only ate preserved foods e.g. soup from a can. | Symptoms: Nausea, Cramps, Lightheaded, Vomiting

This is not the culprit. Illness onset for most foodborne illness is more than 24 hours with the exception of staph which won't be the case for OJ. Plus it is highly unlikely due to the low acidity. Look back further.

Hi, thank you for your comment. TIP: If the contamination is chemical or physical, symptoms can start within minutes. If it is biological contamination, it can start as fast as 30 minutes (e.g. Staph). Other types of contamination can take longer, it all depends on what it was, but it can be fast. Have a good day!

I wonder if it was the soup. I got very bad food poisoning from canned Progresso soup last year, and I’ve seen a few folks on this site who had gotten the same thing from that.
