单核细胞增生李斯特菌是一种可能在幼儿、体弱或老年人以及其他免疫系统较弱的人群中引起严重甚至致命感染的微生物。虽然健康个体可能只会出现短期症状，如高烧、严重头痛、僵硬、恶心、腹痛和腹泻，但李斯特菌感染可能导致孕妇流产和死胎。
