“The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention announced a warning to the risk of E. coli infection because they have identified a case of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli infection in a Waldoboro food service worker.

This worker handled deli food at Morse’s Sauerkraut from April 1 to May 13 wh... See Moreile was infectious. An assessment of the worker’s illness determined that patrons of Morse's Sauerkraut may be at risk for STEC infection. Because of that, any person who purchased deli items from Morse's Sauerkraut between April 1 to May 13 and experiencing symptoms of infections such as severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting, should contact a health care provider to be tested.

Maine CDC advises throwing away any food purchased between April 1 and May 13 because of potential contamination.

The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry and Maine CDC are working with the business owner and local health care providers to minimize the risk of further exposures.

If you are experiencing food poisoning symptoms, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance.
