I bought a pack of ribeyes from a worker that was shelving fresh meat. The steak he gave me had not even been shelved yet. The date June 4 2020, the label read “cook or freeze by June 9 2020”. So I refrigerate and proceed to cook the very next day. When I opened the meat and flipped it over, the other side was completely brown. I’d never seen that before so i did some research. Most sources said if it did not smell rotten, it is good to go. So I proceed to cook it. Keep in mind that I have been dieting and steak and salad has been my staple dinner for the past 3 weeks, so I have prepared it the exact same way everytime, medium. I eat it, wake up the next morning with a terrible stomach ache, extreme nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. This continues for 2 days before I rush to the ER. They perform all sorts of tests on me, chest x ray, blood sugar, urine, cat scan, even COVID. Everything came back perfectly normal and the Covid test came back negative.
