October 9th, 2024:
BrucePac is recalling approximately 9,986,245 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. These products were shipped to other establishments and distributors nationwide then distributed to restaurants and institutions.
Consumption of food contaminated with L. monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects older adults, persons with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns. Less commonly, persons outside these risk groups are affected.
The ready-to-eat meat and poultry items were produced from June 19, 2024, to October 8, 2024. The products subject to recall bear establishment numbers "51205 or P-51205" inside or under the USDA mark of inspection.
BrucePac and USDA have yet to release a complete list of products.
In case you are experiencing Listeria monocytogenes symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, it is important to report it. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
