The Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) reports a significant increase in Norovirus cases, a prevalent cause of gastroenteritis, in Ireland. The data shows the number of cases tripling to over 30 per week in November.

The public is urged to uphold basic hygiene measures including frequent hand washing with soap and water, avoiding close contact with infected individuals, and disinfecting potentially contaminated objects. The HPSC emphasizes the importance of individuals staying off work or school until at least 48 hours after the symptoms have passed to prevent further transmission of the virus.
