Gordon Choice Homestyle Chili Topping - recalled due to misbranding & Allergen

The FSIS announced the recall of approximately 200 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) chili topping product by J.T.M. Provisions Company due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen. The product labeled as chili topping may actually contain beef taco filling, which contains soy, a known allergen, that is not declared on the product label. This product was shipped to institutional and retail locations nationwide in the US. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of this product.
The recalled product is:
- 5-lb. boilable plastic bags of “Gordon Choice® Homestyle Chili Topping” with lot code 230732002.
The frozen, RTE Homestyle Chili Topping packages, which may actually contain beef taco filling, were produced March 14, 2023, and packed inside cases labeled as beef taco filling. This product bears establishment number “1917A” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
FSIS is concerned that some product may be in institutional or consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them and institutions are urged not to serve these products. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Pan de Racho, Panque, and Pan Surtido were distributed in Iowa and Wisconsin by direct delivery to retail stores. We have had no illnesses reported to date.
Pan de Racho can be identified by individually packed and it contains sesame seeds and colorful pink color stripes, and it’s packed in a clear plastic bag and label. Panque is in a clear plastic bag individually packed and labeled. Flan,Chocoflan and Tres Leches are packed in clear container and labeled Pan Surtido is Identified in metal trays. The product has been delivered by direct delivery thru November 28,2023.
These products would be suspended until Lara’s Bakery is certain that the problem has been corrected.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that products containing sesame, coconut, soy, wheat, milk, and eggs were distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of these allergens. The product had already been distributed to retail stores in the state of Iowa and Wisconsin.
