Lummi Council–Harvested Manila Clams & Oysters recalled due to Norovirus

Update March 9th,2026:The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a safety alert advising restaurants and retailers not to serve or sell, and consumers not to eat, certain shellfish harvested from Drayton Harbor, Washington, between February 13 and March 3, 2026, due to possible norovirus contamination.
In addition to the recalled Manila clams harvested by the Lummi Indian Business Council (WA-0098-SS), the alert also includes raw oysters harvested by Drayton Harbor Oyster Company (WA-1723-SS) from the same harvest area and dates.
According to the FDA, the Manila clams were distributed to restaurants and retailers in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Nevada, New York, Oregon, and Washington, while the oysters were distributed in Washington.

The Washington State Department of Health has announced a recall of Manila clams harvested by the Lummi Indian Business Council due to possible norovirus contamination. The affected clams were distributed to multiple states in the United States, including California.
The recall involves:
- Manila clams from the Drayton Harbor Growing Area.
- The clams were harvested between February 13, 2016, and March 3, 2026.
- All species from this area are included in the recall.
The potential contamination was identified by health authorities, prompting the recall. The recall was announced on March 4, 2026.
