MR Gaster Shells, is recalling its 'Snails in court bouillon 5 dozen' product due to an unstable PH level leading to a potential Clostridium botulinum contamination. The product was distributed in the departments of Doubs and Haute-Saone between November 25 and December 15, 2023.The product in question is sold in a 580TO82 jar with a lot number of 1520 and a best before date of November 30, 2025. The health mark is FR.25.056.058.CE. The recall affects only this specific batch of produce with the specified UPC and best before date.
The manufacturing defect leading to the recall was discovered in routine quality control checks. The unstable PH levels in the product could allow the growth of Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium known to produce botulinum toxin, which is responsible for botulism. If symptoms of botulism, such as blurred vision, drooping eyelids, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, dry mouth, and muscle weakness, persist, seek medical attention.
