Vanee Foods Chicken Flavored Base Products recalled due to Undeclared Allergens

2 years ago source fsis.usda.gov

United States

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Vanee Foods, based in Broadview, Illinois, is recalling approximately 9,564 pounds of its chicken flavored base product. The recall is due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, specifically soy and wheat, which are not declared on the product label. These items were distributed to Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.

The product in question is a 1-lb. plastic tub labeled as "Sysco Classic Chicken Flavored Base" with lot code 02673. It was produced on July 26, 2023, and packed in cases labeled as "Sysco Classic BEEF BASE CF" with the same lot code. The product does not bear a USDA mark of inspection but is packed in cases that bear establishment number "EST. 19339" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The issue was discovered when Vanee Foods notified the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) that they had shipped beef base product that may be incorrectly labeled as chicken flavored base.
