Ammonia-Scented Lobster Alert - 168 Market, Fremont California

3 years ago reported by user-nnkcp957 business

168 Market, Warm Springs Boulevard, Fremont, CA, USA

46196 Warm Springs Boulevard, Fremont, 94539 California, United States

Purchased small steamed lobsters from here, about 1 lb each. They were in the refrigerated packaged seafood section which is to the left of the eggs. When taken out of packaging, both smelled of ammonia. I was so excited to eat the lobster that for the first one I ate it and just thought I wonder why there is this strange ammonia smell. Then I checked online and found out that the ammonia smell indicates they are not safe to eat so I threw away the second one which also had a strong ammonia smell. How disappointing. I am hoping now that I won't fall sick from eating the first one. (After reading online I now know that it's safest to eat lobster only if it has been freshly cooked immediately before eating because of some special bacteria which it is likely to grow as it breaks down which can be deadly to humans. If I had realized that before, I would not have bought the precooked lobster to begin with.) | Symptoms: Something else
