In-Flight Chicken Salad Illness - Airlines, Bogotá Bogotá

2 years ago reported by user-vqzqv285 business

Delta, Flight DL6055 from Bogota to Miami

103-9 Avenida El Dorado, Bogotá, 110911 Bogotá, Colombia

I flew Delta (operated by LATAM Brasil) flight #DL6055 on Friday June 9th 2023 at 10:45am, on which, I believe I was given food poisoning. About 3 hours after takeoff, the first meal was served. I opted for the (non-heated) chicken salad option. About an hour and a half later I knew I was sick and had to make a trip to the in-flight restroom. After sitting on the toilet for about 15 minutes and nothing happening, I assumed I was better and perhaps just needed some water. Upon arriving in Brazil, my first 8 days were full of nothing but frequent trips to the restroom, violent diarrhea and committing as well as including but not limited to two separate trips to the emergency room where I was given fluids via IV as well as medication to attempt to resolve my issues. I even received an MRI because the pain I was succumbing to was so severe, doctors thought I may be experiencing something else. After bloodwork, it was shown I have an infection due to elevated levels of a specific element. I am still sick and not sure where to turn to next. Hoping that by putting this out there someone else can share they were on this flight and had the chicken and has perhaps had better luck in getting a diagnosis to help treat the issue. | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting
