Buffet Bird Contamination Suspected - Buffet, Punta Cana La Altagracia

My 6 year old daughter started vomiting and having diarrhea after being there for 1.5 days. She spent the next 5 days in the hotel room. She had awful stomach pains that made walking hard. We went to the resort doctor as she started to get a fever and we were prescribed antibiotics for gastritis. She continued to get worse. We kept her hydrated enough to get her back home. Once we arrived in the US we took her to the emergency room. She was very sick and reports showed she had salmonella. She was hospitalized for 3 days and is still recovering at home. The doctor told us the antibiotic that was given to her actually slowed down the salmonella and made it worse by prolonging it. The only food she ate was from the buffet. There are birds flying all over in there, landing on food, we even had one poop in my husbands water. It was very unsanitary. It was the trip from hell that resulted in a hospital stay.
