Food Safety Report - Red Salt Chophouse and Sushi, Henrico Virginia

4 years ago reported by user-bqkg2818 business

Red Salt Chophouse and Sushi, West Broad Street, Henrico, VA, USA

12221 West Broad Street, Henrico, 23233 Virginia, United States

My just (HS) graduated son's brush with death from there. <-- I'm going with this for the title. Believe it or not it's an understatement.

My wife and I ordered over 50.00$ worth of Sushi (it's my son's favorite comfort food and it was down the street from our house) for my son's high school graduation last month. He was very pleased with it initially and said it was one of the better experiences he had with the food. Now I'm a simple southern gentlemen that prefers my fish cooked so I've always been skeptical of raw fish and potential problems that can cause. I put my down-home feelings aside for my son's preferences and regret it. Around midnight on June 9th I was woken up by my wife who said my son was having some serious stomach pains and was vomiting uncontrollably in the hallway bathroom. He had been in this condition for at least an hour and didn't want to wake me. By the time I took at look at him he had been vomiting for an hour straight and was dehydrated. We decided to take him to the Bon Secours ER up the road. He couldn't keep water down and was placed on an IV after an assessment at the ER. We got lucky the place was empty and nobody with COVID19 was there. He was given antibiotic shots in order to stabilize his condition. It took until 6 AM the next day 6/10 for him to be in a stable condition. I don't know what poison was in the food at this restaurant but it gave my eldest son who had just graduated high school hours earlier a brush with death. He is now traumatized and can't stand the smell of fish. This is a problem because I have a boat and like fishing. What kind of a establishment is this? How can they get away with this? I'm glad this site exists so I can vent about this horrible situation as they wouldn't hear my complaints when I called in acted very rude when my wife and I explained the situation. Stay AWAY FROM THIS PLACE if you value your life. | Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting, Other, Stomach Pain
