1743 International Drive, McLean, 22102 Virginia, United States

I ordered a custom salad with kale, romaine, carrots, red cabbage, avocado, goat cheese, almonds, and balsamic dressing. I then headed to a 2 hr. meeting and another 45 min home. By the time I arrived, I was feeling ill and have been running to the bathroom for the past 5 hours. I hadn't consumed anything but coffee prior and nothing afterward so I feel quite confident the salad was the source of the trouble. Oddly, my good friend had the same issue last week from the same location. Since she had eaten other things afterward I doubted it was the salad. Now I wish I had listened to her. | Symptoms: Diarrhea

First report it to the health department where you live. Go back to the restaurant and y'all report it. Then call Poison Control Center to report it. I was poisoned in March with salmonella after eating chicken noodle soup at Panera Bread in Waldorf MD. The manager gave me the name of his insurance company Selective Insurance. I stayed in the hospital three weeks with an NG tube up my nose. I lost 24 lbs. I vomited six times in Urgent Care at Kaiser. I couldn't walk for quite some time. I sent the insurance company over 1000 pages of hospital records and my agent denied my claim ( I

SOFIA PRODUCE, LLC, of Nogales, Arizona which does business under the name “Trufresh” (“Trufresh”) is recalling all sizes of fresh cantaloupes packaged in cardboard containers labeled with the “Malichita” label, sold under the following sales order numbers between October 16, 2023 and October 23, 2023 because they... See More have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The Cantaloupes were distributed directly to the following States in the United States: Arizona, California, Maryland, New Jersey, Tennessee, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Texas, Florida and Canada. The Cantaloupes would have reached consumers through retail produce markets which may be located in states other than those listed above. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the subject cantaloupes, to date.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The Cantaloupes are packaged in cardboard containers bearing the “Malichita” Label (picture attached). The cantaloupes also have an individual PLU sticker placed upon each cantaloupe in the form of the attached picture. As shown in the picture, the PLU sticker has a top half which is white which has the word “Malichita” written in script in black letters. The bottom of the PLU sticker is black and has the number “4050” prominently displayed in white letters together with the words “Product of Mexico/produit du Mexique”. This label will identify individual Malichita cantaloupes purchased by consumers.

Trufresh is performing this recall after the Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced a similar recall of cantaloupes packaged with the same Malichita label and bearing the same PLU due to possible salmonella contamination for cantaloupes sold to Fruits et Légumes Gaétan Bono. Trufresh’s investigation has revealed that the order numbers may have been associated with the cantaloupes sold to Fruits et Légumes Gaétan Bono.

Check to see if you have recalled products; and do not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute recalled products.

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) reports a significant increase in Norovirus cases, a prevalent cause of gastroenteritis, in Ireland. The data shows the number of cases tripling to over 30 per week in November.

In the second half of November, the HPSC registered an unusual increase... See More in the number of weekly Norovirus notifications. Alongside these reported cases, a surge in Norovirus outbreaks in healthcare settings - notably hospitals and nursing homes - has compounded the situation. The predominant strain involved is identified as GII.4, notorious since 2012 due to its enhanced capability to cause outbreaks.

The HPSC advises health practitioners to be alert to possible Norovirus contamination in vomitus and implement stringent cleaning protocols for affected areas. The public is urged to uphold basic hygiene measures including frequent hand washing with soap and water, avoiding close contact with infected individuals, and disinfecting potentially contaminated objects. The HPSC emphasizes the importance of individuals staying off work or school until at least 48 hours after the symptoms have passed to prevent further transmission of the virus.

Norovirus is very contagious and is easily transmitted from person to person most through the oral/fecal route. Considering that hand sanitizer does NOT work against this virus, it is important to wash your hands with soap frequently. Use bleach to clean and disinfect surfaces.

In case you experience Norovirus symptoms, such as vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, and nausea, report it now. It can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and it enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care
