Idaho Public Health officials are investigating two outbreaks linked to raw milk consumption, with nearly 60 people falling ill since May 19, 2026. At least 45 cases have tested positive for campylobacteriosis, a bacterial infection, across northern and southern Idaho. The Department of Health and Welfare (DHW) is collaborating with local and state partners, including multiple regional health districts, to address the surge in illnesses. Most affected individuals reported consuming raw milk from two milking operations located in northern and southern Idaho. Efforts are underway to identify specific batches and test milk samples for contamination. Both operations are cooperating with health authorities to rectify any contamination sources.
The issue was identified following a noticeable increase in reported illnesses, prompting health officials to conduct interviews and investigations. The ongoing inquiry aims to trace the outbreak's origin and prevent further cases.
