December 22nd, 2025:
The Public Health Agency of Canada has issued a notice regarding an outbreak of E. coli infections linked to Pillsbury brand Pizza Pops. The outbreak has affected 20 individuals across five provinces: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and New Brunswick. Four people have been hospitalized. The affected products include various Pepperoni + Bacon Pizza Pops.

The outbreak involves the E. coli O26 strain, with illnesses reported between early October and late November 2025. The age of those affected ranges from 1 to 87 years, with an equal distribution between males and females. The investigation is ongoing, and more cases may emerge as the reporting period for illnesses can extend from 15 to 32 days after onset. The actual number of cases is likely higher, as many individuals with mild symptoms may not seek medical attention.

The issue was identified through reports of illness from individuals who had consumed or handled the affected Pizza Pops. Public health officials are actively investigating to determine if additional sources are involved. The public health notice will be updated as new information becomes available.
