November 13th, 2025:
A norovirus outbreak linked to Seastar Restaurant & Raw Bar in Bellevue, Washington, has resulted in 16 reported illnesses. The outbreak, which affected diners who ate at the restaurant on October 18, 2025, has been investigated and is now considered resolved.

The outbreak was traced back to two large meal groups who experienced symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, chills, and headaches between October 19 and October 20, 2025. Additionally, several restaurant workers reported symptoms consistent with norovirus as early as October 8, 2025. Public Health officials identified several risk factors during their investigation, including inadequate systems to prevent sick workers from handling food, improper hand hygiene practices, and insufficient sanitation of food surfaces.

The issue was discovered after Public Health received reports of illnesses on October 22, 2025. An inspection on October 24 revealed multiple health violations, prompting the restaurant to voluntarily close for a thorough cleaning. The restaurant addressed the issues and reopened on October 27, following a successful follow-up inspection. Public Health provided training on food safety and sanitation to prevent future outbreaks.
