Outbreak Investigation of E. coli linked to Frozen Blueberries

An E. Coli outbreak has been reported in the United States, affecting 12 people in Florida and Georgia. The outbreak is linked to frozen GreenWise brand organic blueberries recalled by Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. It has resulted in four hospitalizations; no deaths have been reported. Illnesses were reported between May 11 and June 5, 2026.The recalled products were distributed to Publix stores across eight states, with lot code 60401 and Best by Date of February 9, 2028. The FDA and CDC, along with state and local partners, are investigating the source of contamination.
The issue was first identified on July 1, 2026, when the Florida Department of Health notified the CDC about a cluster of E. coli illnesses. Interviews with affected individuals pointed to the frozen GreenWise brand organic blueberries as the likely source. Publix responded by halting sales of the product. The FDA's ongoing investigation may lead to further updates and advisories.

Is it only the frozen ones? I bought fresh greenwise organic blueberries a few days ago and I'm unsure if they're safe to eat
