Update November 26th, 2025:The FDA has officially closed the investigation into the Salmonella Oranienburg outbreak (ref #1328). According to CDC findings, affected individuals had reported eating sprouts before becoming ill. Epidemiologic and traceback investigations—along with product and environmental testing—were conducted by CDC, FDA, and state partners. All collected samples tested negative for Salmonella.
Once investigators confirmed sprouts as the source, the outbreak was deemed over. The implicated sprouts were already past their shelf life and no longer available for purchase. Health authorities report no ongoing risk to the public.
